Help with Arctic Calculator

No. It calculates, solves, draws graphs and saves your history without one, and on Android the app does not even have permission to use the internet. The only links that leave the app are Rate Arctic and Check for updates in Settings, on iPhone and iPad, which open the app’s page in the App Store.

Spanish and English. The app follows your device language. To change it, go to Settings, Appearance, Language.

There are six: Resultado, Calculadora, Cinta, Atajos, Tecla and Apunte. That is how they are listed in the widget gallery. Widgets are not available on Android.

Resultado, Cinta and Atajos work on every iOS version the app supports (iOS 16.4 or later). The keys of the Calculadora widget, which you can press without opening the app, need iOS 17 or later; on iOS 16 it shows a card that opens CALC. Tecla and Apunte, which you set up when you add them, also need iOS 17 or later.

The widget does the same arithmetic as CALC. When a result needs exact big-integer arithmetic (from 2⁵³, about 9 × 10¹⁵), it will not show a different number: it hands the calculation to CALC. Tap the display of the widget to open it there.

Widgets show your latest calculations, which the app shares with its widget extension on your device. Nothing goes over the network. The Calculadora widget also keeps what you type into it: the calculation in progress and the last six finished ones.

To stop the widgets from showing or keeping them, turn off Show my calculations under Settings, Privacy and about, Widgets and island. Clear widget data, in the same place, empties them without turning it off. More in the privacy policy.

Yes. Arctic Calculator adds two actions: Evaluate expression and Convert units. Say, for example, “Calculate in Arctic Calculator” or “Convert units in Arctic Calculator” (in your device’s language), or find the actions in the Shortcuts app and in Spotlight. On iPhones with an Action button you can set it to run a shortcut that uses one of them (iOS Settings, Action Button).

An action runs the app’s own calculator on your device, without opening the app, and follows your calculator settings (angle unit, digits, number format and language). Siri repeats what it understood together with the result, because dictated math is easy to mishear.

Not by Arctic Calculator. The action works out the answer on your device and gives it back to the system; the app saves nothing and sends nothing. Siri itself is Apple’s: if you speak, how your voice is handled is covered by Apple’s privacy terms (Siri, Dictation & Privacy). More in the privacy policy.

Your data lives only on your device. On Android, automatic backup is off, so use Settings, Your data, Export a backup on the old phone, then Restore a backup on the new one. On iPhone and iPad, an iCloud or computer backup of your device also brings the app’s data over.

In Settings, Your data, you can delete the calculation history, delete the SOLVE history and reset the study progress. Uninstalling the app removes the app and its data from your device. On iPhone and iPad, backups you already made in iCloud stay until you delete them in your iCloud settings.

Send the exact expression, equation or matrix, the result you expected and the one the app showed, plus your device model, its system version and the app version. Start a problem report and your email opens with these lines ready to fill in.

Check the angle mode, the graph type, the variable names and the visible axis range. For a function with jumps or asymptotes, send the exact expression and the range you were looking at.
